There are many occasions that you need to rip your Blu-ray and DVD discs: You want to take your movies with you on road, or just want to clean up those physical discs but keep your films and TV shows on your HTPC, or just want to protect your discs from scratching and get rid of messing around with physical discs. Is it possible that the Blu-Ray components on the drive is not working while the DVD/CD bits are ok? Like perhaps it uses 2 lasers?"
I downloaded a trial copy of DVDFab and also VLC on the desktop to test the Blu-Ray and DVD discs. I also tried DVD discs on the Blu-Ray drive and I had no problems with them.
I tried the same discs on the PS3 and no issues playing them. Case: "I've tried several Blu-Ray titles and none of them worked.
